Caveats
1. A standard Joomla! 1.0.x installation does not support SSL for individual directories, such as administrator , however there are various (elegant and not so elegant) hacks.

2. Note that earlier techniques involving the variable $mosConfig_live_site are depreciated, and will not work with the current Joomla! due to increased security enhancements.
