Snippets of the Statistics Screens Description:The Statistics collection function is, by design, of limited scope. The main reason given for this being the extra pressure that extensive statistical farming would apply on the MySQL database. That said there are options within the Global Configuration settings to allow the collection of general Site Statistics in respect of visitors browser, operating system, and domain, the Search Engine Text records the words that visitors have used when they conduct a search within the web site, and (the least recommended) Logging of Hits on Content Items by Date. This last option highlights the issue with regard to the pressure on the MySQL database as the volume of data recorded - particularly on web sites with a highly active membership such as Joomla! itself - would be truly massive! The Statistics screen covers the Site Statistics of the web site as they relate to:
Browsers Tab:Browser: Provides the name and version of all the different browsers that Users have been using to connect to the web site. Visual Bar: A visual representation, as a percentage of the total, of the different browsers recorded. %: A numerical representation as a percentage of the total different browsers recorded, that the occurrences of a particular browser relates to. #: The total number of instances that have occurred of the different browsers. OS Stats Tab:Browser: Provides the name and version of all the different operating systems (OS) detected. Visual Bar: A visual representation as a percentage of the total different OS recorded, that the occurrences of a particular OS relates to.
%: A numerical representation as a percentage of the total different OS recorded, that the occurrences of a particular OS relates to. #: The total number of instances that have occurred of the different OS.
