[TinyMCE WYSIWYG Editor]

Description:

Mambot Type: Editor

File Name: tinymce.php

note icon NOTE: TinyMCE is a substantial Mambot and, unlike many of the other standard installed Mambots in Joomla!, it has a separate folder which means the operational files are found one level further down in the joomla_root/mambots/ directory.

TinyMCE provides a fairly comprehensive WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor for the creation of for example, Content Items and the editing of descriptions.

Toolbar:

save_apply_close_helpcancel_icon_tb

Save: Click Save to save any changes made during the current editing session, and return to the Mambot Manager screen.

Apply: Click Apply to save any changes made so far in the current session, but remain in the Mambot screen to continue editing. If the current action was creating a new Mambot it will now have been saved, and will appear on the Mambot Manager list. In addition, the current session now becomes an Edit action rather than the Add action it was previously. Once the editing session is complete click Save as above.

Close: Click Close at any point to end the current editing session and return to the Mambot Manager screen. Any changes made since the session commenced, or since the last time Apply was clicked, will be lost.

Help: Click the Help icon at any time to view this Help Screen.

Cancel: Clicking Cancel at any point ends the current creation session and returns the display to the Mambot Manager screen. Any changes made since the session commenced will be lost and the new Mambot will not have been created.

Details:

Name: Enter a name for the Mambot. The name is used by the Mambot Manager to identify it in its display list of all Mambots.

Folder: Select one of the five Mambot classifications, from the drop down list, that this Mambot is to be assigned to. Once selected, and the Mambot is saved for the first time, this field is not editable.

Mambot file: Enter the name of the .php file, within the joomla_root/mambots directory, that this Mambot is created from.

Mambot Order: This function allows the position for this Mambot in the order of all Mambots within the Mambot Manage to be changed. This function becomes active once a Mambot is saved for the first time.

Select the position, from the drop down list of all installed Mambots, where this Mambot is required to be placed. The current Mambot at that position will shift down a position upon saving. The order can also be changed directly within the Mambot Manager.

Access Level: Identify which User Group level can view this Mambot. Select from Public, Registered, or Special. See User Access Levels for further details on these.

Published: Select No or Yes to set whether the Mambot is Published.

Description: Enter a description of the Mambot that explains its function in the open text field. The text will be displayed within the Administrator Back-end only and is for future reference purposes.

Parameters:

Functionality: Select Simple or Advanced from the drop down list to set the level of functions available to the Users of the web site.

The effect of this setting is as follows:

  • Simple- Limits the User to basic word processor functionality such as font formatting, ordered and unordered lists. Other formatting can still be added but, as with the No WYSIWYG Mambot, the HTML must be entered manually. The limited options (icons) are added to the foot of the editor pane.
  • Advanced - Provides all the functionality that is enabled in the following settings and that provide an easier way of formatting the content that is being entered. A full block of the selectable options (icons) is added to the TinyMCE Editor layout in the editor pane.

Code Cleanup: This option, enabled by default, means TinyMCE will clean the code of certain HTML elements, scripts, and center tags, for security and XHTML compliance. It is recommended that this functionality is not deactivated.

Save Warning: This option causes a warning pop up dialogue window to alert the User that they are about to cancel a page without first having saved it.

Compressed Version: This option gives the opportunity to increase the speed of TinyMCE in its use and load-up times. However, there are some issues with problems arising particularly with Internet Explorer. By default this option is disabled.

Text Direction: Select Left to Right or Right to Left from the drop down list of options, to set the reading/writing direction of the text entry, to allow for cultural and regional differences in presentation

URL's: Select Absolute or Relative from the drop down list to set the behaviour of URL's entered within the editor.

Prohibited Elements: Enter those elements of code that are not permitted to be used within the editor. Any prohibited element that is subsequently used will be blocked from running. Applet is added by default but others can be added.

Template CSS Classes: Select No or Yes to set whether to force the Editor to load the standard Joomla! template CSS file - template_css.css. The editor will, by default, look for an editor_content.css file within the TinyMCE directory. If this is not found then the template_css.css file is loaded.

Custom CSS Classes: Enter the full URI path to a custom CSS file that is required to be used instead of the default Template CSS Classes parameter above which will be overruled by this entry.
