Guidelines

  • Please use simple and clear language in a FAQ. Avoid the excessive use of technical language – or add a definition of a new term. FAQs are useful for lots of people, many will be beginners (and not only to Joomla!). Also, Joomla! is an international project and the community consists of many people that have English as a second – or even third - language.
  • Limit the number of external links in a FAQ. This will make sure that we do not have to check (re-check) all links for validity.
  • Do not describe core Joomla! hacks in a FAQ. Core hacks have their place, and can be useful at times. For people new to Joomla!, they can be very misleading.
  • All FAQs are subject to editing for accuracy and style.
  • All documentation on the help site falls under the Creative Commons License, Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 license. All contributions to the FAQ section will use the same license.

Rules

  • For the moment, only FAQs in English are allowed.
  • All FAQs need to be for the benefit of users of the Joomla! Content Management System. This means that the FAQ needs to have a direct use to a Joomla! user.
  • FAQs should not include any references to the author's own website(s) or (company) names.
  • All images used in the FAQs are going to be stored on the Joomla! websites. This way, images are always going to be available in FAQs.
  • Authors of FAQ documents may not imply in any way that inclusion on the FAQ section constitutes endorsement by Joomla! or Open Source Matters.
  • It is not allowed to publish copyrighted material to the FAQ directory, unless this is done with the explicit approval of the license holder.
  • By posting a FAQ, you are giving Joomla! permission to use the information on their websites. You are also stating that the information submitted is your own work. Copyrighted material by a third party can only be put on the Joomla! websites with explicit approval of the author.
  • The FAQ editorial team is responsible for publishing / unpublishing / changing FAQs.
